The bar at the top of a Thing: save status, versions, Share and Export
What the bar above your model shows: the name, Concept / Build / Make, History, whether your work is saved, Save version (⌘S), and Share with Export in its menu.
When a Thing is open, a bar runs across the top of it. From left to right:
- Back and the Thing's name (click it to rename) with its project.
- The Concept → Build → Make steps and History. On a narrower window they sit in a row just below.
- Who else is here, when people work on the Thing together (see Working together in real time).
- The save chip and Share.
The save chip: Saved · Save version…
Solid Vibes saves every change for you as you work. The left half of the chip says where that stands: Saving…, Saved (hover it for the time), Reconnecting… when you are offline, or Not saved with a retry when something went wrong.
The right half is Save version. A version is a moment you can come back to, like Before thicker walls:
- When you have changed something since the last version, it reads Save version…. Otherwise it is a quiet icon, still one click away.
- Press ⌘S (Ctrl + S on Windows and Linux) anywhere in the Thing to save right away and open the same window.
- Save a version asks for an optional name and shows what changed, written for you from your edits. Choose Save version.
Your versions are listed in History. If you switched on Pro terms in your profile, the chip says Commit… and the window Commit, the words Git users know.
People who can only view a Thing see the status alone.
Share, and Export in its menu
Share opens the share window: who can see the Thing, links for others (view, comment or edit), and publishing to the Marketplace.
The arrow next to Share opens a short menu:
- Export: STL, 3MF, STEP and more, in Make → Export (see Exporting and file formats).
- Slice for my printer: G-code in your browser.
- Publish to Marketplace…
Export is also in the Make step, and in ⌘K (type export).
Try it
- Change a parameter and watch the chip go from Saving… to Saved, with Save version… next to it.
- Press ⌘S, type First try as the name and choose Save version.
- Open History to see it.
